ASSIGNMENT 1 - POSTCARD

Assignment 1 was done. Here I will show the steps in making the postcard.

Step 1

From the several pictures, I decided to choose Malaysian flag to be as the main picture in this postcard.

Step 2

Open another picture which is film roll and drag it into the middle main picture.

Step 3

Open KLCC picture and press ctrl A at the KLCC picture
It is used to drag KLCC picture into the main picture

Step 4

Locate the picture into the film roll by pressing Ctrl and click the cursor at each edges of the box to make it move flexibly.

Step 5

Open fruits picture and crop it to make the size fit.
Same step as above to locate the pictures into the film roll.

Step 6

Open Putrajaya picture and resize the picture to make it small, so that it will be easy to drag into the main picture. Same step as above to locate the pictures into the film roll.

Step 7

Open people picture
Drag the picture people into background and applied Gaussian Blur for each of the picture in the film roll.

Step 8

Open hibiscus picture

Using Magnetic Lasso Tool to select the flowers only and drag it into the background

Duplicate the flowers and locate them at the top and bottom as shown below

Step 9

Select both flower and applied Brush Strokes -> Crosshatches

This effect will make the flowers more shining.

Step 10

Select Horizontal Type Tool and type the theme for the postcard which is 'Malaysian Truly Asia'
The font used is John Handy LET and the size is 55pt
Put color for each word.

Step 11

Choose Warp Text for the each word and select Flag style
Adjust the Bend and Horizontal Distortion amount to give the shape for the text.

Step 12

To give some impact on the word, choose Layer Style and click on the Drop Shadow and Outer Glow

Step 13

After finish adjusting the word, make the frame for the postcard.

Create new layer which is Layer 1 and Layer 2.

Use the black paint to paste the surface.

Pick the Selection Tools and choose the area for the frame.

I'm still working on my assignment in the Photoshop and it is about 90% completed. I will finished it by tomorow.

TUTORIAL 2

For this tutorial, we learn about conversion of RGB image into Greyscale, coloring the portion with others in greyscale mode and techniques of B/W conversion using adjustment layer.

Step 1

-For this tutorial, I chose this picture. I just make a simple editing based on what I had learnt in the tutorial-

-i pick the layers column and change it into Color-

-color the background into Grey using brush tool except the front kids-

-by using free transform tool, i was edit the aeroplane picture taken from internet and drag it into the background-

-drag the layer 3 under layer 1 to make it Grey as background-

-for the final touch up, i make some edition by change the cloth color into orange -

-using Magic Wand tool and Brush tool-

Project Objective: To learn how to combining all the techniques to create the postcard based on the theme given which is "Malaysia, Truly Asia". This postcard will promote Malaysia to an outsider.


Approach:

Write down how you create the postcard? Using what images?
I just find pictures from the internet and paste in the photoshop. All of the pictures are represent Malaysian culture such as Malaysian buildings, fruits, cultural and etc. I try to edit to make it more interesting by using all the techniques and effect that had been learnt in the tutorial.

Roles And Responsibilities:
1. Firstly after got the task, I went to google some pictures in the internet and find as many pictures about Malaysian.
2. I got a lot of pictures and select the best among them.
3. I try to edit the pictures in Adobe Photoshop to make it more interesting by using techniques and effect in the photoshop.
4. I try to combine the pictures that I have to make it interesting.
5. Consult with tutor and make a last touch up.
6. Print out the postcard and submit.

Comment:
I enjoy using Photoshop because this is such an enjoyable software to learn but I have to improve more skills in the Photoshop to give the best result.

TUTORIAL 1

For this first tutorial, I had learnt about how to using the selection tools, compositing techniques of 3 different files, use the transform tool and apply basic efx using filter.

Step 1

*applying marquee tool and select gaussian blur*

Step 2

*insert the starfish into background and resize it using free transform*

-duplicate the starfish-

-select starfish 2 and 3 and blur them using gaussian blur-

*select starfish 1 and blur it using radial blur*

Step 3

*insert giant tv screen into the background*

*create new layer and applying Halftone Pattern in the Skecth category*

*select Overlay in the layers*

*applying Flatten Image*

*drag the layer 1 file name under starfish 1 copy to make the starfish display infront of the tv screen

*drag and position the tv screen to make it fit on the building by using free transform scale*

*select Layer Style -> Drop Shadow to make the shadow on the tv screen*

*set an opacity -> 50%*

*applying Gaussian Blur and Layer Mask*

Hye all..

I'm back again for new semester. This sem i will continue with this blog to post all Computer Graphics 2 thingy, which is prerequisite from Computer Graphics 1. For this subject, we still taught by same lecturer as the last sem which is Dr Neo and the new tutor which is Madam Lydia. Hopefully i will get something new joyful experience from them in this class. We got 2 assignments to be done and some in-class exercise to be submit every week. The main software for the project and tutorial is Adobe Photoshop. I'm sure it will be fun and enjoy by exploring this software...
